Le Petit Bistro Awarded $9,945 Grant

Hubbard’s Le Petit was recognized by Marion County Environmental Services for its innovative sustainability program

HUBBARD, ORE. 6 JUNE, 2023 — Le Petit Bistro has been awarded a grant from Marion County Environmental Services in the amount of $9,945 to continue to support its sustainability program in 2023. To minimize waste, the Bistro launched a reusable to-go container program for both food and drink upon opening in 2021. This year, they plan to use grant funds to increase awareness of the program through advertising and promotion as well as targeting wineries with their reusable charcuterie boxes.

After paying a small one-time deposit, customers can take their drink in a reusable cup or their food in a sandwich/salad box or soup cup. Customers can also bring their own containers if they choose. Either way, they are eligible to participate in an incentive program where they receive a stamp on a stamp card and when filled can redeem it for a free cookie.

The Bistro also offers charcuterie as part of its catering services and grant funds will be used to purchase special reusable boxes to package the meats and cheeses in and promote them to wineries.

“We focus on sourcing a level of quality sometimes not always found in all charcuterie and it makes sense to package it in a reusable container and promote the sustainability benefits to wineries,” said Shultz. “Our boxes include specialty meats and cheeses imported from all over the world and are a perfect match for some of the high-end wines found in the Willamette Valley.

In addition to their own sustainability efforts, Le Petit has also been thoughtful about sourcing from sustainable partners like Caravan Coffee in Newberg, Oregon and Lady-Lane Farms in Mulino, Oregon. Caravan sources their coffee beans from all over the world making sure they meet strict social, environmental and traceability requirements. Lady Lane Farm is a small, traditional, sustainable dairy that prides itself on its efforts to be environmentally friendly, with the highest regard to the well-being of the livestock. Lady Lane also packages their milk in returnable glass bottles.
